UNIT 1, the smart helmet brand redefining urban cycling safety, and TARRAN, the electric cargo bike brand, are bringing their connected riding experience into focus with a joint campaign launched on September 7.
Built around a simple idea — “Your bike. Your helmet. Now moving as one.” — the collaboration connects TARRAN’s L1 Series bikes with UNIT 1 Smart Helmets to help riders communicate their intentions more clearly on the road.
As families return to school routines, the partnership puts connected safety into an everyday setting: the morning school run, the ride to work, and the journeys in between. Bike and helmet lighting work together, making the rider’s next move visible from both.
Fiets en helm gaan hand in hand
Through TARRAN’s Smart Helmet Sync, riders can operate a compatible UNIT 1 helmet’s turn signals directly from the L1’s handlebar buttons, without an additional helmet remote. Brake-light signals are synchronized too: when the rider brakes, the helmet’s brake light responds alongside the bike.
The experience follows three simple steps:
- Switch on. Start both the bike and helmet. Once paired, their lights stay connected.
- Ride in sync. Control helmet turn signals from the bike’s handlebars, keeping hands on the bars and attention on the road.
- Brake together. The helmet’s brake light responds when the bike brakes, helping communicate slowing and stopping to surrounding traffic.
It is a practical expression of UNIT 1’s approach to Active Safety: extending the helmet’s role beyond impact protection to help riders stay visible and communicate throughout the ride.

Compatibility and availability
The integration is available for UNIT 1 AURA, NEON, and FARO helmets with TARRAN L1 Series bikes, including L1s and L1m.
To connect, riders update their helmet to the latest firmware through the UNIT 1 app, then pair it through the bike’s touchscreen under Accessories > Add-on devices > Extra devices. Both the bike and helmet must be switched on at the start of each ride.
