[Madrid, Spain]: After winning a Red Dot Design Award in 2022, UNIT 1 is proud to announce that FARO, their Urban Smart Helmet, has been awarded the Gold Award at the 2023 IF Design Awards, in the Product Design Category.
The IF Design Award is one of the world's most prestigious design competitions - this year with over 10,000 entries from 56 countries. The Gold Award is their highest possible distinction, granted to just 75 products out of the 10,000 applications and chosen by a juror made up of 133 experts in the field . This year UNIT 1 is honored to share the category with some of the most respected brands at a global scale, such as Apple, Google, Bosch and Panasonic.

This is a true testament to the hard work of our design team who brought this product to life at the height of the pandemic entirely through Zoom, without in-person meetings or any kind of travel to the manufacturing hub - an extra challenging setup.” says Javier Bertani, co-founder and Chief of Design at UNIT 1.
FARO speelde een voortrekkersrol bij UNIT 1’s reis naar Urban Mobility. Als zodanig had het de taak om het ontwerp-DNA van het merk te belichamen en tot leven te brengen. Het was ook een soort experiment: het was bedoeld om de kloof tussen stijl en technologie te overbruggen, door een nieuwe categorie helmen te creëren die strak en stijlvol is – wat het gebruik van helmen bevordert – en boordevol levensreddende technologie zit, wat de veiligheid voor de fietser vergroot. Het resultaat is een fietservaring waarin technologie, design en een absurde aandacht voor detail zijn verweven, met als doel de straten veiliger te maken voor fietsers.
In de ‘IF Gold Statement’ van de 133-koppige jury van designexperts staat: “Wie zegt dat fietshelmen lomp moeten zijn? De slimme fietshelm van FARO heeft een stoer ontwerp dat perfect aansluit bij de snelgroeiende trend van stedelijke micromobiliteit. De ingebouwde verlichting zorgt voor subtiele maar effectieve zichtbaarheid en richtingaanwijzingen.”

Het UNIT 1 zal op 15 mei de prijsuitreiking in Berlijn bijwonen en daar het podium delen met wereldberoemde merken – een bewijs dat UNIT 1 op het hoogste niveau van design UNIT 1 .
